WhatsApp's new Picture-in-Picture feature let users video call & text message simultaneously

WhatsApp's new Picture-in-Picture feature let users video call & text message simultaneously

WhatsApp, one of the largest instant messengers in the world with over a billion monthly users has brought some new features to its platform. The messenger has rolled out a picture-in-pire (PIP) mode for video calls and the ability to post a text-only status update. The news was first reported by Android Police.

The text-only status updates will allow users to set a text message or a URL as their status update for 24 hours. Users can choose a coloured background of their choice and then input the text they desire by tapping the pencil icon in the status tab. You can choose from various fonts and also add emoji to your status updates. A similar feature was rolled out to WhatsApp’s parent company Facebook a few months ago.
The PIP mode, on the other hand, will only work on devices running Android Oreo since the feature is supported only on that Android version. This will allow users press the back button while on a video call, which will then shrink the video chat window. Users can then simultaneously text other people without being cut off from the video feed.
Both features are available on the latest version of WhatsApp, but as we mentioned above, the PIP feature will only show up if you’re running Android Oreo
.
